Nuevos Ministerios

Reflections on Nuevos Ministerios

This photo was taken in the Nuevos Ministerios area of central Madrid – during a rare break in the clouds in what has been an unusually overcast and rainy beginning to the month of June.

This part of town is a classic CBD location (for all you non-geographers, CBD = Central Business District) and is characterised by several quite tall towers (which could be called skyscrapers even) inhabited by various financial institutions and other tertiary service industry multi-national companies. It’s a modern zone, the majority of it built in the 1970s, and also incorporates the Palacio de Congresos de Madrid – one of the main exhibition centres in the city.

Picasso TowerWalking back from Nuevos Ministerios after a ‘pleasant’ number of beers, hic, Madrid-Uno came across this ethereal vision.

Then again, maybe it could only be considered ethereal after a ‘pleasant’ number of beers. Burp.
